Roland Köppel was CEO of the business unit "Components & Vacuum Technology" of SIEMENS Healthcare from 2004 to 2014. The business unit’s main products are modules and subsystems relevant for imaging and lab diagnosis with nine production sites in Germany, China, India and the USA and joint ventures.

By focussing the organization on technology, cost and process management, the overall competitiveness was clearly increased.  
Moreover, R. Köppel supported the introduction of "Lean Management" at SIEMENS.

In 1985 Roland Köppel began his career within SIEMENS Healthcare. He started as physicist in basic research for radiation detectors, followed by assignments in Quality Management, Project Management and director of R&D for x-ray tubes.  
From 1997 to 2004 Roland Köppel led several business segments for the development and manufacturing of mechatronics systems as general manager and contributed to the successful turn-around. During this time several consolidations of locations and segments were realized as well as the establishment of factories in China.

Roland Köppel, born in 1956 in Hof / Bavaria, studied Physics at Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen and extended his knowledge in Finance, Controlling and Strategy Development by visiting company-internal courses in cooperation with Fuqua School of business/Duke-University, Durham/USA.
